Eyelid Plastic Surgery Overview

Eyelid Plastic Surgery, also known as Oculoplastic Surgery, is a general term for surgery that is performed on the upper and lower eyelids, as well as other tissues surrounding the eyes.  Eyelid surgery can be cosmetic and/or medical in nature.  Cosmetic eyelid surgery provides an individual with a more youthful and enhanced appearance.  Surgery that addresses an underlying condition such as visual impairment or eyelid function is considered medical in nature, but can also provide positive aesthetic benefits.  Medically necessary surgery is generally covered by insurance.  The most common eyelid conditions treated at Victor Eyecare include:

Droopy Eyelids due to excess eyelid skin - Blepharoplasty

Droopy Eyelids due to weakened muscles - Ptosis Repair

Inward Turned Eyelids - Entropion Repair

Outward Turned Eyelids - Ectropion Repair

Eyelid Skin Cancer

Benign Eyelid Lesions

Why should I Choose an Oculoplastic Surgeon?

An oculoplastic surgeon is an ophthalmologist (medical eye doctor) who has undergone additional training in eyelid plastic surgery.  Given the delicate nature of the skin surrounging the eye and the close proximity to the eye itself, it is important that the surgeon has the skills and knowledge to provide each patient with symmetrical, natural- looking, functional eyelids.  Dr. Victor is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Fellowship Trained Oculoplastic Surgeon with over 35 years of experience caring for eyes and eyelids in Sun City.
